Sightseeing in Singapore...(5)

After I had waked up, it was almost sunset.

Since this was the first time for me to travel alone and I did not familiar with the city, so I decided to explore the nearby section around the Westin Plazza and took some tourguide on the desk of the hotel.

There was a mall just next to the Westin Plazza. I was not a crazy shopper, so I just went for a walk on each floor in the building. When I was in Taiwan, my work partner said that many things in Singapore were very fashion, but it seemed not true when I was looking at the products in the stores.

After I had felt a little bit tired, I tried to find a place to take a rest. Suddenly, I found a fast food restaurant provided sandwich and hamberger. I walked inside. There was a young girl was welcoming me.

"hello!", the girl said with a light smile.

"I... I... want this and this.", I was a little bit nervous.

Then I found that she was not smile anymore. I think, maybe she thought I was a stammerer. I have to admit that my English was very poor at that time. But, so what? At that moment, I wanted to ask that girl if she could speak Mandarin well or not.

Sitting in fornt of the French window and watching people walking passby was very interesting. I enjoyed my orange juice and sandwich. This was the first time I felt that I was a traveller.

Sightseeing in Singapore...(4)

That was a five days trip, I remeber, my first experience to travel alone. When I arrived at the Changi Airport in Singapore, I was very exciting. The airport was very large, clean, and well-designed.

"purpose of visit?", the custom official asked me.

"Sightseeing.",I replied.(That was the word I had rehearsed for several times before I left Taiwan.)

When I walked to the lobby, I found the local travel agency had been waiting for me for over an hour. We got in the car and drive to the
Westin Plaza. The hotel was a very high building, even now it is.

"I will meet you here after five days. Remeber, you have to arrive at the airport three hours before the boarding time.", the agency told me.

After I waved to him, I walked into the lobby and tried to find the check-in desk .

"hello, my name is Sam X . I wanna check in.", I said.

"Yes, Mr. X, single room for three nights. ok... The room number is XXX.", the hotel staff said.

"I wanna higher room floor.", I said.

"Ok, I see... Please wait for a minute. ok... There is a room for you. The room nember is XXX.", she found a room and replied me.

"How much?", I asked.

" $OOO, including the deposit. We will return it back to you when you check out.", she said.

Then I paid off the money and went to my room as soon as possible because I was really tired and I needed to take a nap at that time.

Sightseeing in Singapore...(3)

My ex-coworker has been asking why I chose this country for sightseeing. I told him that the most important reason is language. People live in Singapore usually speak two languages, English and Mandarin. If I can not talk to the local residents in English, I may have the alternatives.

Singapore is not a big country, but well-known for her economic power in the world. Why does she has such influence on world market? Part of reason is her tourism and economic policy , I think.

Sightseeing in Singapore...(2)

After I had read the guide book, I knew the first thing that I had to do, contacted a travel agency.

I do not suggest you which travel agency is the best, 'cause you will never know if you can meet such a good salesman as I did. But I will tell you the details that you have to know when you contact with a travel agency.

First, you have to read some travel guide book as I did.
Second, decide your routes and hotels.
Third, tell the agency what you need.
4th, compare the prices and choose the suitable one.
5th, make sure your reservations are no problem.
6th, pay the fee in your agency's office and check all stuffs that they have to give you.

Sightseeing in Singapore...(1)

It was about five years ago, my first experience to plan the oversea-tour schedule by myself. As a country with Mandarian and English being her official languages, I think Singapore is good for Taiwanese to visit.

Actually, it was not easy to make the schedule, because I did not have such experience before. First, I had to find some informations via the internet. Unfortunately, there were not enough stuffs that I need on the internet at that time, so I had to try the other ways. Finally, I found a guide book that was very good and with so many informations in it.
